Join master pastelist Robert for a fun and informative workshop which will concentrate on putting into practice specific compositional devices, color concepts, textural ideas, pastel application and more — gathered from our great legacy of American Impressionist painting in New England, Each day begins with a concise and helpful visual presentation and demonstration of the lesson: The awakening spring landscape in sunlight and shadow including color temperature lessons, compositional devices, painting details that contribute to the whole effect, negative space painting and more.This workshop features at-easel and general critiques and lots of painting time. Work from your own images or one of the instructor's. All levels welcome, beginner through advanced.
Award-winning artist Robert Carsten, PSA, attended the Art Students League of New York, the Rhode Island School of Design and the Accademia di Belle Arti (Italy). He is a master pastelist and signature member of the Pastel Society of America, master circle artist in the International Association of Pastel Societies, Lifetime Honorary member of the Southwest Florida Pastel Society, and Honorary Board member of Pastel Society of America. Robert is a contributing writer to Pastel Journal; The Artist's Magazine; PleinAir magazine and Watercolor magazine. He teaches workshops nationally and internationally. His pastel paintings have been shown in many museums and galleries and are collected worldwide. His work has been featured in Pure Color/The Best of Pastel, Pastel Journal, American Art Review, The Artist's Magazine, Strokes of Genius/The Best of Drawing and Finding Your Style in Pastel, and other publications.
